The Tony Award winning musical AMERICAN IDIOT is the stage adaptation of the punk rock band Green Day's rock opera by the same name. Ever since the original album was released in 2004 (and the musical recording in 2010) I have been hooked!!!
The story, expanded from that of the concept album, centers on three disaffected young men (Johnny, Will and Tunny). Johnny and Tunny flee a stifling suburban lifestyle and parental restrictions, while Will stays home to work out his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend, Heather. The former pair look for meaning in life and try out the freedom and excitement to the city. Tunny quickly gives up on city life, joins the military, and is shipped off to war. Johnny turns to drugs and finds a part of himself that grows to dislike and experiences lost love.
This production is being mounted by House Seats Presents and will be performed at several venues around the strip. The first of which is Monday, November the 7th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (7:00pm & 10:00pm).
