A Year In The Life…

January 2024

Moving into 2024 I decided that I wanted to start off the year with a sort of gratitude/recap of the last 12 months.

2023 has proved to be one of the most stressful and rewarding years of my life. I vividly remember sitting behind my computer on the snowy day last January, overwhelmed with anxiety about what the future would hold.

I had finally decided to take the leap of faith and fully commit to my new guest entertainer position. This meant no more accepting longer contracts as part of a cast, but relying solely on my own work.

For years I had the security of knowing I would have 6+ months of work already accounted for with just one contract. But, I also knew that I couldn’t continue to grow within that safety net. So, with a completely empty calendar… I had to trust the universe to provide.

I can’t sugarcoat it for you… It was scary… It still is scary!!!! But I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I was given in 2023.

I spent over 121 days (17+ weeks) performing on 5 different cruise lines while visiting 25 different countries.

That would’ve been more than enough to be thankful for, but I also revisited my musical theatre roots! Through some crazy circumstances, I was able to reprise one of my favorite roles in Stephen Sondheim’s INTO THE WOODS. I had previously played The Baker’s Wife but being able to revisit such a complex character with this wonderful cast (including American Idol’s Diana DeGarmo) was truly a gift.

So here we are, back in front of my computer on a snowy January day. Am I still anxious about the future? Absolutely. But maybe…just maybe…I have finally learned to trust the universe a little bit more.
